Copy of commission

I had a customer recently who is selling property in Jamaica. Her lawyer is requesting a copy of my commission. Is that legal?

Interesting question. It isn’t illegal as we routinely provide this to many hiring parties as they do need to know that info.

Wouldn’t it seem more logical to request an apostille? An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of a public official on a document for use in another country.
An Apostille certifies:

the authenticity of the signature of the public official who signed the document,
the capacity in which that public official acted, and
when appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears, e.g. a notary public seal.
The Apostille does not validate the contents of the document.

jodyleebode has a good point to an Apostille certification.
Under the Hague Treaty Apostille Convention of 1961, the Apostilles may only be issued to a skilled specialist authorized to issue an apostille, who is the Secretary of State’s office. Notaries are not authorized to certify their own signatures and seals.

Thank you all. The SOS said they’d need an apostille.
