It's going to vary... title co's and other related businesses are more likely to look into established databases for NSAs before they look anywhere else. Individuals are more likely to hit Google and come across your website. Title and other co's will search if you live in an area with few options or if they can't find anyone in their circle.
I've had a website for years. Then again... notary is only one of the things I do. I simply added it the site. And yes... my site has driven notary business to my door. is it enough to have a whole site dedicated to notary work??? I think now
I have re-designed numerous times over the years when I am not satisfied with how it's performing.
Try something like Wix if you want to test a site. It's what I recommend to my IT clients who don't want to meet my prices for site design (which can get costly).
Outside of that... hosting is no where as costly as it was. Holiday season is just about here... cyber Monday, black Friday etc will see annual hosting plans for literal pennies on the dollar if history repeats. I have setup tons of client web hosting so they can renew at great discounted rates annually.
