Administering a DNA KIT

I got a recent call to administer a DNA kit. Seems like an easy 50 bucks…

  • take pics of id / insurance cards
  • swab mouth and tube it
  • scan back 3 docs
  • mail package

Two things I’ve learned about these (1 thru sad experience). 1. There is some sort of medicare scam (google it). And 2. sounded easy, but the swabee wouldn’t answer the phone to confirm the appt and it turned into a week-long nuisance and eventually was told to ‘just throw the swab kit away & forget about it’. No pay.

I was paid yesterday for it.

So NOW we are to be medical techs. Really !

Unless you have a medical background collecting biological samples, stay away from DNA collection. It’s too easy to contaminate a sample leaving you liable. Also beware that some of these are Medicare/Medicaid scams.

Fortunately I was a medical specialist in the army. But, I’m not doing any of these. They should be done by a medical Tect.

I myself did not stick it in her mouth! My job was to only watch her to make sure it was her saliva and not someone else’s. It’s the same as an Ancestry DNA kit that you do on your own.
