Batting Clean Up. Why Do LSA behave like this? Who teaches it?

Had a meeting this afternoon with a single Mom in between taxing kids to sports.

Discovered there was a notary assigned yesterday who called her to confirm the order and told her the address of the Starbucks she would meet with her. What?

The signer indicated it was to be at her home since her kids are always going different directions and she was promised a mobile notary to her house. This notary advised her she’d have to speak to the service who hired her because she doesn’t go to people’s homes.

At 9:30 last night, that notary called and told the signer she had to get to the Starbucks immediately because that loan needed to close TODAY.

The signer told her it was too late at night to call her and never mind getting her to leave her kids at home alone.

So when I called her today we confirmed. After I showed up she asked if I was the person who called her yesterday to tell her to go to Starbucks.

No, that wasn’t me.

Because I’m a loan signing agent, I go to the address I am requested to go to. Where does anyone decide they don’t do that when they say they are loan signing agents?

I get covered up with requests the end of the month, shoot i have 4 tomorrow. But folks - if you are trying to get a signer to come to a place you prefer for whatever reason? Where did you learn that was okay?

I’m sorry but I was appalled. The signer was mad because her numbers changed because of the one day delay. Not cool.

That’s very not cool. I’ve been a notary for a 20+ years but loan signing the last 2. The very first thing you learn is - you don’t change the time or location. If I was paying for a mobile notary. They better damn well show up to where I requested them. Don’t do the job if you can’t meet the customer service part of it and if you can’t go into peoples homes, then you’re in the wrong business anyway.

Agree 100% with miyakmeek. It’s not up to the NSA to change time or signing location. If the signer requests a change, we try to accommodate and advise hiring party of alteration.

The call at 9pm demanding she come meet her somewhere was what shocked me. If you blow a contract you blow a contract. You don’t do it more than once if you want to work.
