lenders being accused and sued of discrimination because they can see a picture of the signer.
That’s why most don’t want them in there anymore. Title wants it so they can prove we looked at their ID but they can’t give it to the lender in most cases.

I do the same. Sometimes I might feel like 3 days is ample time and 9 times out of 10 that’s the ID I should have held on to for the entire week. (Murphys Law)

I had the attorney hold up paperwork last week because they said the ID was blurred. I went back on the platform and it was fine. I had client take it again and sent the 2nd copy which seemed to make them happy. My first question was why? What were they going to compare the ID to. I believed that was for notarization requirements. Again, trusted to make a document legal but not our word is not trusted. 🤨

Really. It must be regional. I got my notary 25 years ago during the last refi craze. The title k e company would courier the docs to me and I would hand deliver them, or a courier wouid pick them up.

My next investment was a plain paper fax and a subscription to E–fax. That was in the past. The point of my reply was in the first sentence, (And yet they feel comfortable emailing the borrower’s entire credit profile to a total stranger). A few states don’t allow notaries access to that personal information.

If instructions to a notary say do not collect ID - why is it their responsibility to delete copies of ID?
There are at least two lenders who specifically say do not collect ID.
