Does this happen often? What is normal?

I had my first buyer signing. In the tiny room were the realtor, the broker, the title company, the buyer, and both of his parents. I ate a pint of ice cream after the stress of the chaos! Does this happen often?

Only if there is ice cream available in sufficient quantity.

No that’s not usual. You just take control of the documents and do the job only addressing the signers. The rest of them are there for - I don’t know what, but Bobby is on to something if ice cream is the answer.

Yeah, it happens - first closings can feel like a packed family event  next time just ask for fewer people or a quieter setup, totally normal to want that.

In my experience, it’s rare for something like this to happen. The most negative effect is that it usually makes the signing take longer than it should, and wastes my time.

Most of my signings take place in people’s homes, which is usually the calmest environment. But over time, I’ve also ended up in restaurants, coffee shops, hospitals, offices, and even homes where the heater is blasting in the middle of summer. There have definitely been moments in tight spaces or unusual setups — it’s all part of the job.

As another NSA mentioned, taking control of the documents and guiding where everyone sits can make a huge difference in keeping the signing organized, even when the room feels chaotic. At the end of the day, we do have to make accommodations and adapt to whatever environment we walk into.

And honestly… a pint of ice cream sounds like the perfect way to decompress after a signing like that. LOL
