With all this scamming going on I’m thinking about
getting an encrypted email, even if it costs a little cash
Has anyone else used an encrypted email?

I’ve thought about encrypted email for other purposes. The problem is that all the people who want to communicate have to agree on the same system. If one of the parties is communicating as an employee, they’re not going to pay out of their own pocket for encrypted email; either their employer buys it for them, or they won’t use it. Also, sometime something needs to be downloaded onto a PC. Most employees are not allowed to download apps onto their work PCs.
I have a Proton email address that I set up years ago but barely use. The couple times I did use it, it worked fantastic for encrypted emails. I use the free version of Proton.
Oh that sounds promising I will look that up
Great! I’m sure there are others that do encrypted emails but after much research I decided on Proton. I still test it out every now and then and it works like a charm! They have other security features too!!
Good reasoning, btw! There’s way too many scams targeting notaries nowadays.
I love not being an employee
I believe encrypted email only protects the content email but won’t stop scammers from sending you emails or stop phishing attempts. Being alert and vigilant - not clicking on links, refusing Zoom type requests, and requiring senders to call/text are a few ways to sift through what’s legitimate and what’s a scam.
I find my anti virus is really good at finding and blocking. I already pay for that. It seems to be good enough.
I had email encryption a few years ago and no one could open the emails. I will not send anything requiring encryption by email AT ALL. If a person wants a copy of the signed documents, they can request it from Escrow and we never send out unsigned copies of documents to signors even if they ask politely.
