I had a signing for a mortgage refinance and was informed that there were missing signatures on the first page of the HUD Addendum to Uniform Residential Loan Application. The signing company advised me to reach out to the signers and send back a scanned copy of the signed form. This might be a stupid question, but is it possible to email them the form to sign and have them scan it back to me to upload? Or do I need to physically have them sign it in front of me. It didn’t need to be notarized. They are an hour and a half from me and I really don’t want to have to drive there for 1 page. ---

@mdlinzy76 Truly, that query would be _ **best posed** _ to the hiring entity. Not a stupid question and yes, if the form doesn’t need notarizing then email them the form to sign and have them scan it back to you to upload. Make sure they know the loan won’t fund without **ALL** signed docs so it’s important they get the doc signed and scanned back to you **pronto**. ---

The borrowers could have signed it online, but that action would have to come from the title company, not the middleman. ---

That’s the risk in taking long distance signings. One small mistake and you have to drive all the way there and back again on your dime. I would try anything you can think of to resolve the issue without having to make that drive, but in the end, you may have no choice but to bite the bullet and do it. Well, you always have a choice, but refusing to do it could cause damage to your future as a signing agent. ---

Exactly. Before I take a long distance signing, I always ask myself would I be willing to go back should something be missed. ---
