Is it just me - or are documents on Snapdocs getting later and later?

Today makes two assignments where documents are not on time. The last one had to be re-scheduled. Today if I don’t get them on time, I’m going to log an extra 90 miles and another hour and a half driving. It’s so frustrating because I have three in the same county and having to drive back to print is a killer.

But I still won’t get a mobile printer. I just mess with all that extra equipment to lug around. Maybe people booking notaries should know documents are coming.

If I get another request for that time slot that has paperwork ready - I may do a switcheroo. And I never do that either. But Lordee. And we have a high wind advisory, it will blow you right off the road today. Last night gust of over 100mph were pushing cars off the road and knocked a state trooper over on his side. Fun times.

It’s not just snapdocs.

I guess that’s just my worst offender right now.

I’ve taken to emailing (& note on site, if available), 'Will need by xxxx" immediately upon receipt of Order. So far/pretty good.

I had a sellers side with Bancserv last week and ended up having to send a message requesting docs because they weren’t available. Ended up being just a 20 page packet.

They are the other one that can take forever on documents. But overall I really like bankserv

I’ve always said that they shouldn’t book notaries until the documents are ready. Obviously, they don’t listen to me. They’re going to do what’s convenient for “them”, not “us”. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve accepted a last-minute signing, only to find out that the documents are not even ready for a signing scheduled an hour from when I accepted it.

This came in on time so I don’t have to double back this afternoon and I really like it when things are efficient.

You got lucky. Don’t you just love it on the rare occasions that it all works out…

I have had the same happen to me. They end up rescheduling. It is very frustrating when you are over an hour away from home to have to make a trip back to print just to go back. It also limits us to how many jobs we can do. The thing is that we agree on the price before even knowing that they are going to send the paperwork 2 hours before the signing. Then we have to rearrange our schedule to do the extra milage to get the job done.

You don’t have to have have a mobile printer just have a lightweight mfc priint and scan with Wi-Fi capabilities that you take into the signer’s house and print the documents with them then you can also use that to scan back your documents before you leave the residence.. I normally print at home before I go there but this is an option with the last case scenario.

Keep in mind at the time that the signing service gets the documents most likely they are just sending a copy to the signers. And then if signers want changes then another set of docs come but they do need time to review them and that’s why a lot of them are coming in late I believe.

They disclose of course 3 days earlier the closing disclosure. They set the appointment at that time and depending on what changes need to be made after the signers review that closing disclosure that can cause additional delays. that’s why we’re seeing so many same day appointments

In summary it’s not the signing service’s fault. Signing service waits for the okay from the lender. Signing service get some over to us as quick as they can. But if you are saying you need it by a certain time be prepared to possibly lose that signing and have it reassigned.

Patience communication with the signer flexible schedule. I don’t schedule more than three appointments a day so that I am able to fit something in if necessary.

I can agree with most of the comments on this topic. Its very frustrating to not have paperwork ready in time or even worse have to reprint after you have gotten them all prepped. I will start to get into the habbit with Arichter recomendation with the upon receipt of the order. This signing services think we at their beck and call and dont value our time enough. Even trying to manage 3 orders per day or less becomes an issue. You reserve your time and then it gets rescheduled or cancelled and then you end up with NO work. Just ridiculous !! Close to calling it quits with this industry all together.

I agree. I had a signing yesterday where Title finally sent the docs over to print and about 10 mins after I printed the docs the lender decided to move this from an in-person signing to a virtual signing with their own service. They gave me $15 for the print, but I lost the signing fee and since the cancellation was so close to the appointment I was not able to fill that spot. I have another today, that just canceled because the client’s full name is not listed on her identification as it is on the docs. I had already turned down a cash buyers for today becasue of this order and now I am out both. That is a loss of $315 of revenue, becasue other people either didn’t verify their clients identity before hand or made decisions at the last minute that only really impacted me. It’s frustrating to hold these appointments and have them cancel at the last minute, but I don’t know what, if anything we as notaries can do.

Where I live, many more notary signing agents that people needing us, so analytics pay a key role in location . Usually assignments go to the notary nearest the signer, which is the way it should be imo.

I decided to cut my driving down to 15 miles or less one way. Gas prices, traffic, I’m working smarter not harder. I haven’t had that happen in a long time :crossed_fingers:t3:but do remember when trying to plan all my closings together in the same area and way too much stress for me to juggle and sweat over multiple closings. I’m established, no need to kill myself anymore trying to do everything and get frustrated.

This is crazy, I have an 11 am, 3 pm, and 6:30 pm today and NO DOCS on Snap Docs. It used to be different. This is crazy…..

I think the difference is title companies large enough don’t use Snap Docs and have control of their closings and make sure everything comes on time….signing services on snap docs are down a notch as working with 3rd parties and lesser title companies.

If you can wean yourself off of SD and get with the other side your better off. Understood starting out, SD was 90% of my work, but I would only accept from my tried and true on there. I turn more down than I accept for sure, and fine with me. Lower fees, more pages, late docs changed my mind of accepting many closings.

YES, my biggest pet peeve, 1st thing every realtor, lender, loan officer and title company needs to request is their ID. When you get to closing and that is not correct, everyone passed the ball and never asked. They either knew them and thought they had their names correct, or used old information from a prior closing and never asked if their were name changes. Grrrrr….such an easy thing to do and many leave it up to us to find the mistake, and it costs us reprint, time and travel.

I’m on the verge of making a decision on whether to call it quits. My notary license is due for renewal and I need to decide NOW if I’m going to renew it or just retire. My inclination is to renew it and then I can decide if I really want to continue or not. If I let it go and don’t renew it, I might end up being sorry for that decision and will have to scramble to get it reactivated.

Yes, it’s VERY frustrating when your entire day is ruined because of late documents or cancellations. They act like you don’t even matter. I think that there should be a cancellation fee for cancelling with less than 24 hours notice before the scheduled signing time. Something like 50% of the signing fee. You could have found other jobs for that time slot if you had reasonable notice. If you travel to the signing location and it gets cancelled for reasons not your fault, you should get paid 100% of the fee.

Steves11, I would say renew it anyways, you never know if it comes in handy somewhere else. Then you can decide if you have no use for it. Its better than srambling to try to renew it after it has lapsed. Just in my opinion. Also, sometimes a good break can refresh you from all this stressful industry.

I think I am going to renew it. It’s better to have it and not use it than to want it and not have it.
