Notaries Through History - Italy - 1253 AD

We will continue to celebrate National Notary Day throughout the week with a short fun fact each day!

Many medieval notaries were, in fact, mobile notaries who travelled to individual homes and shops.

Notaries of this time period recorded business transactions in finished documents that were then carried across the continent by merchants and traders. It is believed that their services played an important role in the cross-fertilization of ideas in Europe’s growing market economy.

Awesome! I was not aware of this. Do you have any links for more reading on this?

Thanks!

Check out Jeremiah 32 in the Bible. It’s all about deed signings. I suspect the Lord was really the first notary. :innocent:
