# RON platforms approved for your state?

I just found out that the states listings of approved RON platforms are NOT listed on the states website.
I called Florida’s SOS and found out they do NOT list all of the approved RON platforms on their website.
I assume the other states are the same. Soooo I ask HOW does one find out if certain Providers are approved? Oh, she says…you have to call them. REALLY.

[This Florida webpage](https://dos.myflorida.com/sunbiz/other-services/notaries/remote-online-notary-public/) contains the following statement:
> The Florida Department of State does not recommend nor endorse any particular third party vendors. The basic requirements for vendors’ technology are found under Chapter 117, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 1N-7001, Florida Administrative Register.
So Florida has set requirements that the platform must meet, but does not perform any kind of inspection or audit to see if they really meet the requirements. So it is up to them to tell you they meet the requirements and up to you to decide if you believe them. If they tell you they do and you start doing work through them, and it turns out they really didn’t meet the requirements, I don’t know if you can be held liable or not.

First I want to say I’m not up-to-date on any changes that may have happened since I last looked quite a while ago, but THAT very issue was why, to me, RON should have been a no-starter for any notary. The tech co’s m/l wrote the law and so any/all liability got dumped on the notary, so I’d have to say ‘yes, notary is liable for choosing/believing the ‘wrong’ co.’

KY lists platforms that meet their requirements (but does not endorse any of them for the obvious reasons). If we want to use a platform that’s not on their website, we simply send them the company name/link and their IT people reviews for approval. But yes, the states IT requirements for such platforms are stipulated in their RON regs. Again, speaking for KY.

Oklahoma has a list of 12 on the SOS website.

When looking at RON for Arizona I called the state and they provide a list on the website for convenience only. They made it clear that they do not endorse any of them.

Ron signings mean cheap wages for notaries who perform them, we get our fees being MOBILE notaries , that mean we get paid for going to borrowers homes to do the signings, Ron notaries will be secluded in their offices like every 9-5 worker…
