45 to 60 day pay not feeling it

It’s truly unconscionable for ANY client/Signing Service [SS]/business entity/notary farming out Signing Orders [SOs] to excessively EXTEND the remuneration interval to 45 days let alone to 60 days . . .

Normally, it should take NO MORE THAN 14 Calendar Days to pay for the Professional services successfully provided.

Why?

They’re normally paid within 1-3 business days for the Professional services successfully provided. Of course, there may be exceptions to that, but most of those businesses are paid within one week (or less).

  • When accepting a SO from a client, the onus is upon you to ensure that they’re WORTHY of the credit your offering to them by accepting their SO.

Please research the business entity & their affiliated reputation PRIOR to providing any Professional Services.

===>>> Remember that for the Professional services you provide include associated ACTUAL DIRECT out-of-pocket expenses that become a financial liability you’re incurring for that specific SO; i.e., gasoline, turnpike/ferry fees, paper, toner, binder clips, pens, envelopes, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.

From the date of purchase of the out-of-pocket expenses there is usually only 20 calendar days BEFORE the invoice becomes due & payable.

This results in you having to cover the expense for their SO & it leaves you carrying credit for their business entity,

Of course, if you can afford to do that - no problem. However, for most Independent Contractors [ICs] this situation is quite precarious . . .

During this time of minimal SOs, it’s even more challenging to remain financially solvent. This is the precise reason I often strongly recommend the following:

  • Always research potential new clients prior to providing your Professional signing services
  • Always query about the payment interval & ensure it’s included on your SO
  • Be certain to clarify if the payment interval is CALENDAR days or BUSINESS days (there’s a BIG difference between the two)
  • Hedge your bet against the vagaries of this business sector by DIVERSIFYING your services and/or client base
  • Read the EXCELLENT reference text I’ve recommended on multiple occasions over the years for learning other techniques to provide Professional services (outside of the Loan Signing sector):
