Where did you order it?
I always use notarystamp dot com the Excel Mark stamps are great and when you learn to re- ink them you save a lot of money on reorders.
I am in a desert they dry out fast even carrying them in ziplocks. The small is 9/16 x 1 1/2. Still has 4 lines.
The signers need to be made aware that the recipient of any notarized document(s) reserves the right to reject them if they are stained, smudged, illegible or in poor condition. The signers have the absolute duty to ensure the quality and condition of their notarized documents and the notary assumes zero liability for the conditions so it is important this be communicated to them.
One way to address this during the phone conversation when scheduling or send a text, would be to: 1. advise of what will be needed for ID., 2. signer to provide a clean/clutter free surface workspace., 3. all signers need to be present,. 4. Fees and payment methods accepted.
I have been in the business for 24+ years and I decide what the minimum standards of how I will conduct my business, whether it is a public place or in their home. It is not being rude, condescending or disrespectful. I am not there to clean their tables or work space areas, and I am not a paid babysitter to an adult. Just keeping it real… I am a pretty flexible and easy going friendly person, but I also set a standard and boundary as a business professional. Hope this helps someone.
Right. Which is why I specifically said Oregon. It was more of a prompt to check your notary laws of your own SOS….
Same here! I need to order the replacements, already got the letter from the SOS, just don’t have the time but now I’m forced to. I usually carry two sizes, regular and mini but my mini was stolen.
“The unclean floor yet wanting you to remove my shoes”. - This here is the one!! and that’s why I carry shoe covers! Lol and agreed such is the life we chose.
This is both informative, and humorous. I’ve been fortunate to not have to deal with dirty signing areas. However, living in Detroit it seems that everyone has a friendly pit bull. I agree with one statement, “he’s friendly to you, but he don’t know me.” It can be intimidating when I’m 6’1 and the dog’s head is at my thigh, especially when he’s in his cage near the front door and I’m in the rear of the house.
I was alright until one of the kid’s stated, “you know mom that he can get out of his cage.” This is not a good feeling, especially when you know that you’ll have to return there for another signing tomorrow. I got through it and the next day they placed the cage on the opposite side of the front door when opened. Out of site, but definitely not out of mind.

! SO TRUE!! My WORST experience is arriving at the proverbial “Cat Lady’s“ home where hard WHITE fossil poop is memorialized on ALL of the chairs around the table, and the homeowner sits in it and asks if “this is okay?” I’m standing there speechless! After a pregnant pause I ask her if she can get the chair cleaned up first and to place a towel on the chair afterwards. THEN I realized that the table is covered in hair, dried food stuck on the wood, and dirty pawprints. I had to look her dead in the eye and tell her I couldn’t use this space and to clear another place for me to work. She embarrassingly giggle-laughs and said “OH yes, this is their table.” We ended up closing on an end table with me sitting on a towel on the verrrry edge of a soiled recliner chair.
I had a similar situation with a reverse mortgage signing order. Animal waste all over the place. Disgusting. Fortunately, the signer’s live-in daughter (?) cleaned up a spot for us to work and I trudged through an hour and a half signing. Never again will I risk my health in that way. Bleaaaaah.
Thank you for reminding me I need to buy these and put them in my bag. ![]()
Ooof. Literally one of my nightmares.
WOW! Please keep that in your case from now on!
I purchased 2 plastic placemats, the type for pets (they are bigger) and I will whip them out in a heartbeat. Dirty tables (home, period), and rough texture wood (how do you sign on a washboard) and last but not least…an overhead light with a 20-watt bulb and curtains drawn. I know the documents without looking which is a good thing because I can’t see them in some of these homes.
This is such a great idea!
