Can any one of you who got this 1099 post the actual copy after redacting your personal information.
I wish to capture any pertinent information about Notary Spot , about Name, Address, Tax ID numbers and details if possible.
Is the issuer an individual or is the issuer a LLC, S-corp or other information?
Just make a note and report no need to put in a 3949A, according to my accountant that only goes for companies that have not paid you huge amounts (thousands) for several hundreds and it is within the amount you claim to be paid it is not necessary. I however do write them a letter, registered noting that the 1099 is incorrect and that I do expect to be paid what they claim they paid. I got the money in very fast from some SS, ofcourse this never happens with a title company.
They know the exact amount they paid each notary. Just what do think they put on their tax returns that they paid out in fees to notaries?? I can assure you it was not the correct amount. The 1099 is fraudulent and should be reported to the IRS.
They probably cut the checks for the other $400 but never sent them to you. So in their mind, they paid you the money. I agree with youâŠFRAUD!

I have worked with companies that I have done closings in Decemebr not paid til Jan they always carried over to the the next year never the same year.

I have to totally agree. Michael is not a very nice guy and is a horrible business owner. I too had to call him numerous times to collect what was owed to me. He finally paid but charged me $50 because he âclaimedâ that he needed to stop payment on a check that was already mailed! I never received this check. His office manager actually told me the checks were all destroyed by the hurricane. Unbelievable!
The thing I find humorous is that he takes lots of vacations, shows off his big boy âtoysâ and takes no responsibility to PAY us!
If anyone is going after this guy, sign me up!

Also who was the title you did the work for?
Was it by any chance Carrington Title?
AVOID DOING ANYTHING WITH âNOTARY SPOTâ LIKE A BAD HABIT. consider yourselves forewarned.
Carrington Title was the company title company for both of the signings that I received bad checks from The Notary Spot. I was told that they were no longer contracting signings to him, because they were aware that he had not been paying Notaries, or sending bad checks. In my opinion, if Michael Tomlinson has been using the same tactics, and from what I can see he has been set up in at least three states, then it should be investigated by the FBI.
COntact your local assembly man and senator. Contact some paralegal or someone who can write up an law.
Present this document and then contact all other senators / assembly members of your state ( not US sanators).
Once you bill is tables. then you lobby each notary in your state to write / email / call them to support.
California raised notary fees to $15 a pop , that way many notaries, who do this job full time can at-least pay some bills.
