@LindaH-FL - you are so right. In my opinion, I do not see NNA as an lobbyists for Public Notaries. To me, NNA is a for profit business entity, that promotes their products and services to Public Notaries. I would classified NNA is a for profit membership organization with a focus of providing services, products, and courses to Public Notaries. So NNA is going to market to Public Notaries, lenders, and title companies. I have to ask this question, why would they be concerned with our fees? NNA has the best of both “worlds”, they are selling their services to both LSAs, lenders, title companies, and signing services.
@Amy_Boyd, I understand your plight on getting started in this industry. New Signing Agents need training on pricing their services. The real struggles facing new LSAs, is how to operate their new venture as a profitable business. Once a new LSAs accept a low fee for their services, they will find it is harder to get a customer to pay a higher fee for the same services in the future.
Oh no I have done 10’s of thousands of loan signings over 22 yrs. I will not accept jobs under my set fee. But someone is. I figured it is the new agents just to get their experience, At this point in time in this industry there should be nationwide regulations. Signing agents have always been vulnerable to Title and Signing Services cutting our portion of the fee. Signing Agents need more protection.
The question is “What is your true worth”? The reality is that your true worth is what someone is willing to pay for the job. The signing services may say that your worth is $75 for a seller signing. You may say that it’s $125. Who is right? If they can’t get anyone to do the job for less than $125, then you are right. If they can, they are right. It all comes down to the old “supply and demand” theory.
I asked where they found my name and they said “Notary Cafe”. This is not the first time I’ve been told that.
https://forum.notarycafe.com/t/re-set-your-prices-and-know-your-worth/46690 @cNsa5 Thanks again for your review of my comments. This is a great example of my experienced for today. I Should have stated - “I understand new signing agents plight”. For @Amy_Boyd clearly stated that she has over 22 years of experienced and performed over 10’s of thousands of loan signings. Amy, please forgive my misstatement.
Oh no offense taken. I enjoy the conversation
That sounds wierd to say 10’s of thousands
I think 10,000. Would be more accurate and I’m not alone.
Cfletcher you were fine with your statement, and I am half asleep and can’t add!
Thank you for being so kind.
It was just one of those days for me too. During my writing the comment, I was interrupted by a phone call from a title/signing company asking if I got time to take a same day signing. I guess, I had a “Forrest Gump” moment - “My Mama always said, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
LOL have a good weekend
