Time to renew your commission, was it worth it?

Thanks for the honest reply. We’re all hustlers in this business, me included, a character trait that most of the newbies that sign up to be loan signing agents don’t understand. Because it’s better to get several or even 10 checks in your mailbox every day than sitting by the phone refusing 10 low-ball offers. The sad part is the offers are so low that the middlemen are driving away the career professionals by focusing their business on part-timers.

I get checks all month long so yes, I’ll sit and refuse low ball offers because counter offers are accepted. And there’s always a location no one will go to. I think newer notaries believe they have to grab whatever they can grab. Initially, there is that worry there, if I let this go will I work at ALL today? It takes a while for that apprehension to go away.

Renewing my commission is a definite yes for me, as TX costs are relatively low. However the annual background fee for signing agents with *** is overpriced and it pains me to pay it. I just gave it another year but if volume and fees don’t pick back up I may stick with general notary work.

After expenses it’s not much of a profit with the randomness of assignments.

I spent a bit trying to get RON setup, digital seals, memberships etc and that definitely was a huge loss. Too much time and lost $ on fees with no return.
