And yet another scam

I received an email tonight informing me that an assignment had been canceled. Now today is March 10th, okay? First mistake, they gave the date for the signing as March 1st! (I haven’t had any closings cancelled and if it was March 1st it’s a little late to be telling someone). Second mistake, I have NEVER had anyone schedule anything out so far if they had tried to claim it was April 1st! This was title from PAC Signing. Reminded me of the old PacMan game…click the link and we gobble up your computer. It really is getting disgusting out there. Scamming notaries…we should be able to prosecute whether they are successful or not. I’m noticing more and more assignments coming thru a signing platform I don’t care to use and this is occurring more and more. I’m just saying…2+2
Where is SigningOrder when you need them?

I am registered with a lot of websites. I use several different assignment platforms. I don’t get situations like what you describe. I’ve had one order that canceled this year because the signer wanted to “hold off a week”. I don’t see that notaries get scammed. Get paid too little? Work for someone that has to be chased for compensation? Maybe. You can’t use a broad brush and say there are more scams. I don’t feel cheated in any way by the platforms. You either counter for the fee you will work for or you don’t accept a job. I don’t experience “scams”. If you are seeing contacts that are all scams. I don’t know what advice anyone can give you. You learn and you move on. I’m not disgusted. It’s competitive and the fees being offered are not great. I wonder where you are that you find it all disgusting. Your view is pretty bleak.

Hey Johnsonps…i have a question. I jumped out the game for almost a year because of family drama and back surgery AND moved to another state. I have a question for you about platforms only because my sister is trying to become a notary in the state i just left. in the beginning, i went to all these signing companies per Bill Soroka, Notary coaches’ advice and signed up for each company they had listed. Is that necessary anymore (this was in 2017) or can we just sign up on a platform and get picked up.

I don’t claim expertise. But I know what works for me. I signed up on all the platforms. Loan-closers.com got mad because I sent thank you cards to title companies. Other than that year one was Timios snapdocs Signingorder signatureclosers and every agency with a website all the title company websites. Some of those websites if you are signed up on Signingorder you are signed up there. Timios was excellent experience and they pay on time every time but they do not negotiate and have the largest print jobs of anyone so I don’t take them anymore at $90. Then companies would invite me to sign up with them. So that led to some title company agreements and some sites will not authorize you as a resource until you have at least two years experience.

In my region it’s a low instance of error that gets you work. There are a ton of notaries. And many are new and taking marginal fees. But I am doing okay right now. I just increased my E & O coverage to see if that results in a bump in business.

The biggest thing is check your work ask questions if you have to and don’t make mistakes. When rates were super low I did 3-5 a day. Now with 3 more years experience I am happy to do two a day and have a few other things I can do but it’s rough right now.

I don’t have a FT job so - it’s not extra income it’s my only income. I took retirement. Anyone wanting this as a sole job better really do the math.

I didn’t answer very clearly - yes - you get order opportunities from a platform pretty fast. Be sure to complete your profile and get your credentials submitted.

Many signing services are not on platforms. They have their own websites. Sign up on all of the platforms and as many of the individual websites that you can. When times are slow, you’ll want as many business sources as possible.

Pac signing is a good company, I have done business with them and was paid .

But what they sent me made no sense. Maybe they contacted me by mistake on canceling an order a week old? Doesn’t sound very efficient.

They only cover Oregon & Washington state.

I am retiring from Singing Agent because they don’t enough anymore. Always low balling.

Totally agree be careful where you click. I have had a couple also but I’ve done some research before I actually had any further discussion with them and it always pans out they are scammers
