Are we all experiencing ridiculously low offers?

You never have to make witnesses sit through an entire appointment. I find it better to get the witnessed docs out of the way and cut them lose.

If so they should claim a window of potential fees depending on circumstances. Placing the lowest amount in their email speaks volumes.

As a new Notary I am in an awkward position - needing to build my experience for the companies and platforms that require x years experience and y number of signings before they will even consider you; coupled with any reasonable signing gets assigned to someone else no matter how quickly I respond. I am therefore in the position where I am having to take what, on the outside, looks like a reasonable fee for what equates t 5-6 hours away from my home office and does include the doc print and prep before and the scanning once back. All very similar to @randerson.mhl experience she mentions in her response.

Sounds very reasonable too me. When I do get low offers under a $100 I counter back for $125 and up depending on the distance and type of signing. I’m a firm believer that the time and effort we put in (printing the docs, review and prepare them, our travel time and cost of supplies) to provide a pleasant experience to the customer should be compensated.

Just curious. . . when you counter a $100 or < offer with a $125 request, are you getting many of them at the $125?? Maybe you could expand on how that works.

Yes I’ve gotten a few at $125 and some I haven’t. And Im okay with it. It depends on a few variables when I’ll ask for more than what is being offered; If the signing is the same day, the driving distance, type of signing, etc. My time is valuable and accepting low ball offers is a waste of my time.

Yes I have… I operate from the old saying, don’t ask, don’t get…

What’s your previous experience? If you’ve sold insurance by appointment, been a sales rep, or any job that involves face-to-face home presentations to strangers and have a valid notary commission, you should use that to your advantage. My wife says I can (and have) walked up to total strangers and started up a conversation. If this is you too, then this will be an easy and fun job.

This really depends on location and knowing your market.

A fellow Missourian I live down by Cape Girardeau

Im in St. Louis all we get are $40-$60 offers and they are taken within seconds its crazy its so saturated with notaries now.

Wow I thought St Louis would be good market. About all I do are refis Try these two companies Signature Closers, Premium Closing Solutions Inc. I have done over 40 signings with both good to work with and pay within 35 days
