Assignments clarity

Accepted an assignment for Saturday for the 21st at 3pm in NC. I have not received the loan documents yet. Is that a time period in which the company send the documents? Also I do not see the assignment in my profile.

Depends on the company. It’s very unlikely to have then a week in advance. You’ll likely have them on Friday.

@makeitlegalwithmellc Hmmm . . . there was a thread on this type of scenario the other day.

@makeitlegalwithmellc Would you clarify please:

You Replied to the Signing Order [SO] accepting the fee they offered

OR

The hiring business entity advised you (after you had Replied to the Signing Order accepting the fee they offered) that you Received the SO and it was assigned to you on your Dashboard with that business entity

:swan:

II doubt you will get the documents before the signers receive the Closing Disclosure.

Replied by accepting the fee.

So closer to the appointment time?

The closing statement is sent 3 days before the closing

so…

If there’s a problem, for example, they question the $350 notary fee, that might cause a delay triggering a redraw. You received the docs last week, printed 2 sets, and now have to shred them. Then we read about it on the Notary Cafe.

You may have ‘accepted’ the fee offered, but that doesn’t mean it was ‘assigned’ to you. If you didn’t get the ‘order confirmation’ and don’t see it in your account on the platform’s site, you probably did not get the job.

@makeitlegalwithmellc Please know that “Accepting” the fee offered for the SO, places your Acceptance into the grouping of additional Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] who have “Accepted” the proposed SO fee.

The hiring entity will then make a determination of whom they will “Assign” the SO for completion.

At that point in time you’ll received a text, email, phone call, etc. to confirm (usually within a few minutes) of initially “Accepting” the offer of the SO.

======

If, on the other hand, you DON’T receive a text, email, phone call, etc. to confirm the SO has been placed with you, then someone else got it.

What training/certification programs have you completed thus far?

FYI: These scenarios are normally presented & discussed within training/certification programs.

Not until friday. Email loan officer or call and ask for them early friday in case u have questions

Did anyone train you in basics? Running a notary business?
Dont forget …you can counter the offer if its low.

Sometimes the Signing Company has instructions to hire a particular notary. I received an assignment hours after marking myself available because they could not locate the preferred notary. It turned out the address was remote and off the grid. The previous notary had successfully found them. I had no service for the last part of the journey and had to rely on the instructions the signer gave me.

It used to be 2 hours before the signing. But now sometimes its the day before.

This happened to me recently. The signing agency had issues receiving and uploading the documents from the mortgage company. It was a bit of a headache for myself and the client. Because of the error I had an issue with the new time and couldn’t accept the job- but I found out it was a full signing from the mortgage company and I was not told this when accepting the assignment.
