Wow, I have this lousy grade on the Mortgage Connect site which I found very surprising. Why don’t they ever call a notary and say you made this error on x y z form. I had no idea an error was even made. Do they hire someone with a terrible grade?
I got a job for them from a different platform which I thought was odd and then I noticed this atrocious grade because out of three packages I made a mistake apparently on one form. I was pretty surprised. I suppose I’ll survive it but man. That’s how they tell you?
@johnsonps306 In short, to answer your query: “No, they don’t.”
Since the initial platform creation (and the subsequent onslaught of multiple platforms), the professional signing agent [PSA] providing the services isn’t apprised nor advised . . .
Yet, the Title/Escrow Companies [T/ECs] & Signing Services [SSs] have direct visibility to the alleged “errors” and/or “grades” of each & every PSA.
This has been the modus operandi [MO] since the onset of platforms & SSs & it continues to be so.
Of note, there are a few T/ECs that certainly DO apprise PSAs of any alleged “errors” that are open to being disputed & DO reveal to PSAs the associated “grade” for the services they’ve provided; however, these T/ECs are VERY rare.
In my direct experience I’ve only encountered one SS that apprises the PSA of an alleged “error,” but they don’t welcome dispute. Not stating there aren’t any others . . . simply that after nearly two decades of providing PSA services have only directly experienced one that does reveal it.

This business environment again harkens to Caveat Venditor and clearly reveals that providing these services is unlike being an employee wherein the employer has a vested interest in supporting the employee improvement & subsequent development. Within this business sector - one is truly a sole proprietor - thus, completely & totally on their own.
I’ve been advised in the past of forms that required correction, so I was still surprised. Doesn’t happen that often, but if I get notified it’s very rare that it will happen a 2nd time.
This is even a company that reviews scans and says “you’re clear to ship the package”. Just disappointing I guess.
We all have made mistakes in this business. I have gotten emails or phone calls about mistakes and had to do a few 2nd trips. 2nd trips are a good teacher! Now I maintain a 100% rating with companies. I remember being designated “White Glove” with FASS, but I quickly learned what that really meant. So I asked to be removed from that status, but I still maintain a error free status. A few companies provide “score cards” or some other type of rating systems and provide feedback for the LSA’s viewing. A few companies will notify you that an error on your part has happen and give you an opportunity to dispute it or make a correction. If you are successful, the company will remove error rating from your profile. Other companies will only allow the accumulation of so many quality errors, before they deactivate your ability to get their orders. It’s not only quality errors that can cause a LSA removal, but failure to adhere to their notary instructions, pull out of assignments to many times, not giving a 4 hour notification of returning orders, or communication conflicts can counted against LSAs. We may be 1099 contractors, companies still hold us accountable to a number of factors.
I had the same thing happen with them. All of a sudden I am down to an “F” from an “A”. I was so upset to see this. Apparently I made an error on the Patriot Act and listed his birthdate as the expiration date - easy fix and did not slow anything down. I caught it before I dropped.
I’ve challenged their grading on things they deemed to errors and have been successfully. I also I don’t think at this time the bad grade prohibits us from getting signing notifications
These “bad grades” make me laugh It’s supposed to be some kind of psychological
game they play with us. When I received a bad score I called and asked what the reason was… no one knew what the reason was, a week later I’m back at 100% LOL!!
Coming here to say that the timing of your post is perfect as I literally logged in to MC yesterday and happened to see my ‘F’ grade???!!! Like WHAT??? I’ve done so many closings for them (and Townsgate), and I also never received any email or notification letting me know that I’d made any errors, so I was stunned. I screenshot the page and emailed them basically saying what you mentioned here. Like if I made an error, a “critical” one at that, then why wasn’t I notified??? Like have some respect MC! How can we even learn from a mistake if we don’t even know that it happened? My “critical error” that earned me a failing grade says something about checked boxes on an appraisal acknowledgement form. No clue??
Depends on the lender, one lender uses notarizations that have boxes below the signature area that say notarization performed and you check either in person or by electronic means.
There’s another company that uses notarization forms requiring you to check “known to me personally or provided space here for identification” and you fill out driver’s license or whatever they provided for ID.
Convinced them that they’re not worthy of a Fee that will pay for their out-of-pocket expenses & for their time
Told them they’re a novice to this business sector & must start with bottom-of-the-barrel Fees
Persuaded them that they must complete 100, or 200, or 500 Signing Orders [SOs] before being able to request a living wage/Fee
Advised them that the sagacious insights within the database of the Notary Cafe forum is “old news”
Stated to them that 'no one will hire them (but them) & their only choice is to accept the Lowball Offer
Etc., etc., etc.
As I often share, Accessing the database to locate information about potential clients has saved many of us an inordinate amount of time ‘chasing’ payments for Services professionally provided to potential non-payers . . .
===>>> There are a few odd ones here & there who will come onto the Notary Cafe forum harking about how “wonderful & prompt-paying” a longtime deadbeat Signing Service [SS] is . . . just know that they haven’t been struck yet by the soon to be arising zombie to whom they’ll succumb to the Theft of Services scam.
@Arichter As I often express . . . It’s all based upon the REGION/Location, location, LOCATION . . .
Although, as it’s said within the financial industry/Wall Street - past results do not necessarily reflect the future potential returns on the investment . . .
Certain regions can be wildly frenetic while others are blatantly dull & lifeless. This could be due to the lack of professional signing agent saturation (for one or a few to be quite busy) or it could be due to the focus of a lender or title/escrow company “mining” that region.
We’ll never know for certain.
It’s important to always make the proverbial hay while the sun shines.
