I have a signing for Bancserv that I agreed to for a certain address. The signer today states that the address is actually 30 minutes farther away. I can not do that, especially for $75. So here’s the issue. BANSERV is closed today. I called the emergency number, no response. Sent an email to every email address I have and sent a message through the app. They are 3 hrs behind me in time zone, so I have no way of letting them know to find another agent before the appointment when they finally open tomorrow. I definitely am not adding on an hour extra (round trip) for $75. Any advice?
Maybe see if the signer can meet you half way
See if signer will delay sign-time until you can get fee adjusted w/BancServ. It’s hardly your fault that location is NOT as agreed OR that BS emergency # isn’t responding. I will also say that $75 is low regardless of location. It isn’t just drive-time, but add’l auto expense, too.
You’ve probably already had this handled but when it has happened to me in the past with BancServ, I have just asked if they can adjust the fee a bit as the location is further than you expected and would have not taken the closing otherwise. They’ve been accommodating to me in the past but as with anything, how you present your case will dictate how likely someone may be willing to go a bit further to help out and compensate.
Bancserv is great . Do it and let them know u need an adjustment in fee to X
U can negotiate any fee .beforehand too
Update; I could not travel that far because I had another appointment already scheduled after. Someone at Bancserv emailed me at 11 pm Sunday and found another signer.
If you don’t mind my asking, how did you get signed up with Bancserv? I did attempt to sign up with them once (and did it on the 1st of the month (the only day they allow sign ups)), etc, etc, but they rejected my application anyway. They said I could “Try again, a few month’s later.” Perhaps I was too new/Greemhorn for them. I did not try again. Maybe I will in a bit, but we’ll see.
Hi
You did everything you could, and follow the protocol and should the signing company have not responded. You would have to tell the signer that they would have to meet at a closer address or or delay the signing. Most signers do not understand how 30 minutes affects our fee. Very good that they did respond and find a new notary. And unless it has a minimal amount of pages in the signing, $75 is on the lower side.
Hi all, I’m glad you got an answer over the weekend! It bothers me that your fee is so low! Without me knowing what type of signing it was! I sure hope you & other notaries set your fees to work with these ppl!!! Hopefully you guys are giving them your rates for the services and not accepting what they are offering you!
