I learned that if your gross earnings in Washington are over $12,000, you need a Washington Department of Revenue business license and perhaps pay taxes. Has anyone experience in this? Not sure how to file for this year, my first as a notary signing agent.
Maybe this will help:
Income tax | Washington Department of Revenue.
I’d refer you to the department of Revenue for Washington State or a good corporate CPA - it’s possible your business return is done the same time as your personal return…possibly not. Depends on your business structure, your gross receipts and your own unique situation.
If you are earning income from goods and services that you provide you should apply for a UBI account number. It can be delivered to you as an individual or a business. This is the number you will use to file your annual income through the Department of Revenue. There is a certain income threshold for any taxes you may have to pay depending on your business category. The UBI is not the same as a business license. But your UBI is the number you will use to apply your business DBA name as either sole proprietor, Corporation, LLC, ETC.
