Homes in my area are selling for 2+ million, and they don’t stay on the market for more than a couple of days. No one is refinancing, but there’s a lot of investing in out-of-state property going on. Most of those out-of-state purchase assignments are not going to middlemen, so when they call, always quote a minimum of $200.
Same is true of Coast2Coast. I no longer counter because apparantly someone is willing to work for the low fee.
I agree completely! The newer notaries are glad to be assigned work with little regard to fee or even what they should actually be charging. They get most of the work and then after several months they realize the wrong they have created. Now I get bombarded with $35/$50 jobs and I’m like…that might get me to drive to the location but I’m not printing and I’m not signing anything. I had started with the counteroffers and found some rude people, so I just say I’m not available. It’s getting to where they call to find out why. My vehicle can sit out in my driveway for nothing just as well as me driving 20+ miles. Yes, we have to charge different in different locations…in my area…“just around the corner” is about 15 miles one way. I wish we had a $$ guideline! I’m actually dealing with just a few companies now because they pay me for what I do. Of course, not everyone has that luxury.
Exactly! I had a company offer a quick claim deed tonight for $35.00. Told them I wouldn’t leave the house for less than $85. It was assigned to me at $80. Told them they would have to adjust to $85 or find another notary. I received the confirmation. (It was obviously a test to see what they could get away with)
@cryman.notary You may find this thread helpful:
In my distant memory I remembered signing up with MC. It was tiring and required a lot of paperwork. Back in the day they were paying decently to compensate for the huge packages that were lobbed at us. When things died off I no longer heard from them. It could be that I forgot to update my Background Check or something. I heartily and completely advocate not accepting offers that will lose you money. Every time we are on the road we risk an accident. Wear and tear on the tires and car and ourselves. Our assigments cost more than toner and paper and this type of fee is unacceptable for the amount of work. Newbie notaries would do better listing themselves on Google and handling private notarizations. You can charge the state’s set fee and add travel.
That’s QUIT Claim Deed. Sorry…that common error is just one of my hot buttons.
To take this would be foolish. Most common-sense thinking business owners would not. Second, I would be curious to see the quality of the final work of the notary that did accept this. That job order is at the minimum worth $250.00 as a package. As a matter of fact, that number will rise to $300-$350.00 in the So Cal area soon. Smart business folks get what I’m saying, and long termers know it as well! If you are starving accept it, counteroffer at the very least, but if you can please, try and resist the temptation. The profit numbers do not add up generally speaking. kk peace!
To some folks February 14 the is Valentimes day! lol…
How many closings are you doing for $250? Not many.
permit run I have never heard of that im going to look in to it!
