Definition of e-sign in the "capabilities" section of the profile

In setting up my Notary Cafe profile, I would like to better understand what qualifies as an “e-sign” capability before I select the box. Am I just over thinking this, and it is simply the ability to received the signing package electronically? Or, does it include sourcing and managing documents to be electronically signed by the signer?
Any responses are appreciated.

The latter…electronically signed by the signer…usually on your computer which you’ve dragged to the signers location. Generally, these take longer and you still have to print some of the docs for signing.

Thank you for the clarification.

Hello;

I’m wondering if there is tablet compatible esign software, or do you need a laptop? If you don’t already have a laptop, is it worth the investment?

I’d say only you can answer whether it’s worth it - how many requests have you had for this service? In 9 years as a signing agent in Florida I’ve had one request - so if I had to make the investment I’d have to say no, it’s not worth it for me based on MY experience.

Also, it’s not just the laptop or the tablet which is the investment - you have to have the aircard or some form of access so you have internet capability at all times - aircards can get pricey with the monthly fees so if you have the capability to tether your cell phone for the internet service.

And then…there’s always those documents that need notarization, and if you don’t have your electronic notary commission and/or seal, there’s that.

Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you. I wasn’t event thinking about electronic notary commission seal. I just have the stamp :smile:

I would use my cell as a hot spot.

Thanks again.

Make sure that e-signings are available and legal in your state before investing. They are not in NY.
