I lowered my guard and did a favor for a borrower, not really for the agency, who had an urgent need for a mother who traveled from Reno, CA with a sick child at UCSF. I accepted a $55 urgent signing I don’t normally do and denoted Simple Signings then put me on their low ball list and wouldn’t give me any $100+ signings thereafter. Though I responded to their texts within 10 seconds, they overlooked me thereafter and wouldn’t give me any good signings. They play politics with notaries apparently.
The very first signing they gave earlier this week was a real pain in the rear I had to jump through all kinds of hoops for their customer’s errors in the database. Too bad they lost me a certified notary signing agent with several years of experience and I won’t work for them ever again. I noticed they later removed my order history as if I never worked for them since I called to ask why I wasn’t assigned these orders in my area.
Not sure I’m clear on what happened… While at a signing for Simple SS, the borrower requested some Gen’l N. Work and you did it and they paid you $55? That right? Then you told Simple SS this fact…and now they aren’t giving you any business? If that’s what happened…well, good riddance to them. YOUR business is NOT their business! (and you probably shouldn’t have bothered telling them). Did I get the story right?
I’m not sure I understand this story. Did Simple Signings send you to do the signing for the mother? If not, why did you involve Simple Signings? You say you did a favor for a borrower, not the agency.
So it sounds like: You accepted a signing from Simple Signings. While at that signing you did borrower a favor and did an “side” signing for the mother, which the borrower paid you on the spot. You told Simple Signings about it. Now you get low-balled.
If that is the case, you did the signing on your own and shouldn’t have told SS. One thing I think is tricky…did the extra signing take more time and did you complete your SS signing on time?
2 days ago. I had a confirmed appointment with a borrower. Simple Signings’ notary kept calling the nice lady telling her that she would be over at 6:00 P.M. for signing. This person kept calling. While I was there, the lady (with and English accent) called again. The borrower handed me her phone. This lady with an English accent, said that she was “on her way”. Simple Signings never responded to the borrower’s concern.
@CherylM, Why would you tell SImple Signings about you notarizing for borrower on another side notarization. Doing other notarizations not related to loan signings is not Simple Signings business or control. You are a notary public just exactly as it states, to notarize for the public. Signing services hire you to facilitate/notarize signings for loan docs.
It doesn’t make any sense why Simple Signings is not giving you any high paid assignments.
That’s why she was low balled. She told the SS that she performed services outside of the original signing and they see that as theft of services…Never tell the SS you made extra $$ on the side at the signing…
Maybe I am missing something…when I read the original post, it looked like it was just a favor (to Simple Signings) of a low-fee ($55) for a signing…(and a note to not accept any lowball signings from them as you will risk offering your regular fee in the future)…I do not see in there where there was a “side-notary-job” performed. I am seeing all the responses about it, but that is not what I understood from the post…help me out, I might be missing something…
I had to read that post 5 times. Now I think I finally got it. She did the Signing but she accepted a $55 low fee because the borrower had a sick child and she did this as a favor to the Simple Signings and now they only offer her lowball fees.
She failed to keep in mind that she’s running a business and that you don’t DO favors. Doing favors don’t get you anywhere but BROKE.
It appears they LIED to her to get a lower fee.
The borrow probably did not have a sick child🤦🏾♀️.
If a person have a bill with Verizon and that person get sick , Verizon does not care, you better still PAY that bill, no favors.
Update. So it seems Simple Signings has a system of doing very little but accept their customers putting their data in their database for orders. They do very little about it as the customer uploads their docs. SS didn’t assign out this job I wrote about at all and a competitor gave the same job to me two days later.
I received an SS assignment I tested accepting yesterday that was no good! The guy was out of the country. I had to find it out for myself and enter it into their database.
Frankly, people should not be afraid to communicate with the signing company about these things. If you think youve been low balled or black listed, email the Simple Signing team and ask them if you are missing something because you aren’t being notified of a regular signing anymore but you’re ready and available to them. Close the email with, “Enjoy your business Simple team, thank you!” . Include happy face.
I send a thank you to the schedule team after every signing. I create my own thank you cards on Canva. Personalized message to them. I put the card in the body of each email. So its your own ecard for free.
Again to all notary, you have to get creative, be hungry, give them honey. Works for me. Just my advice that works for me.
