E-Sign experience

Several years ago, about 6 or 7 to be exact they were trying to get e-signs into play. I did two or three and that’s it. I was just wondering from the notary community if in a larger metropolitan area the E- sign experience is catching on. If you have done many e-signs let me know some feedback from it. My belief is that people want paper in front of them when they’re signing a mortgage. I didn’t think the e sign would really ever catch on. Thanks in advance

My direct experience regarding signer e-sign perspective:

The younger the signer, the stronger the desire for e-signings; they usually remark that they’d choose e-signing for the ENTIRE process, if that was possible.

Starting mid-to late 30s and up, they want a paper trail; not that they’re old-school, just that they want to ensure their investment remains in their name & is filed correctly within their county.

My direct experience regarding title/escrow company [T/EC] e-sign perspective:

There’s generally a strong interest due to the perception that it will reduce the overhead expenses for the signing transaction.

My direct experience regarding signing service e-sign perspective:

In general, a neutral perspective regarding e-signing for the signing transaction.

My direct experience regarding county recorder offices e-sign perspective:

It’s taking some time for the county recorder offices Technology Teams to “catch-up” with the e-signing requirements for signing transactions. Of course, this varies from state-to-state, but most aren’t ready to “go live” with electronic recording of the real estate (or any other) signing transactions.
