Floating notary signature

What do you do if your signature and seal are on a separate page from the original doc and there are no page numbers or indicators of what you notarized or who’s signature you notarized. Anyone could use it for anything.

I’ve only had that happen once or twice - if the notary language (cert) is on one page and the signature and stamp are on the next page by themselves, I don’t care if the pages are numbered or not - I draw a line on the page with the cert, sign there and stamp there.

Or, what you could do is line through the cert on the doc and attach your own loose certificate - if it’s recordable, they’re going to be paying for that extra page no matter what…but I agree with you that the seal and signature floating around by themselves is not a good thing.

Thank you. Yes, I will be attaching my own certificate.

I have sometimes changed the 81/2 x 11 page to a legal page and added the certificate to the bottom of the page. I do keep their cert they have on the second page in the package and send it all back. That way a cert is floating.

Thanks, Jon. That’s an idea
