There was a thread from 2020 about a company requesting a social security number from a notary.
I sent an email asking if the W-9 provided to the platform was sufficient since I didn’t normally provide that.
I was told to disregard the form, that it shouldn’t have been included. Don’t be afraid to question things I guess is my point.
Anyone in this business should have an EIN and should not be supplying their SS # to anyone. Takes 5 minutes on irs.gov to obtain one and it’s cross-referenced with your personal tax return at tax time.
Agree with Linda. Always use and EIN.
Totally agree with @LindaH-FL that if you are in this business you should have an EIN.
The company emailed back and said I could disregard.
