Help signing today

Happy Saturday - kindly help. I have a signing today
the 1st signing took place in Cali on Wed (wife) notarized and seal by notary - the docs just arrived at my home and I’m getting 2nd signatures (spouse) today. many of the legal docs already have the notary in cali signed and notarized and the wife has signed. The spouse must sign many of these pages - where do i sign and notarize? or is the notary who signed in cali suffificient?

also when reading says:witness the hands and seal(s) of the undersign and the wife already signed and Im getting the spouse to sign today - there is no line for me to sign or notarize - assuming this is not needed for me to sign and notarize (correct).

so again i have a refi spouse signed in california and it was notarized in cali now i have it for spouse to sign here in Delaware - any feedback would be appreciated.
thank you

Attach a loose cert for your notarization of your signer’s signature. No, the Cali notarization is not sufficient.

Feedback: did you know DE is an attorney state? Hoping it’s a non-DE property and you can do this.

aware DE is an attorney state and property in Cali. thank you. where can i gain the loose certs from??
thanks for responding so quickly

for the loose cert is his signature required too? or just mine?

You said the wife’s signature was already notarized in Cali and there was no place for you to notarize - add your own loose cert for his signature notarization. Your state website should have them and you can make your own with your word processing program. You should always carry a supply of loose certs tailored to your state’s requirements.

Section 4327 and 4328

Linda, do you mind if i call you. I need to leave the house soon for this and want to be clear. thank you and can you provide your number or call me (302 494 3800)

It was a pleasure talking to you Cynthia. Good Luck

Just for the record: the meaning of “witness the hands and seal(s) of the undersigned” depends on if it is near where the signers sign, or if it is part of the notarial certificate.

If it’s near where the signer’s sign, “witness the hands” just means the signers signed it. The word “seal(s)”, in many states, serves as the personal seal of the signer(s), just as if they had poured molten wax on the paper and impressed their brass seal in the wax. (In other states, it’s meaningless.)

If it’s part of the notarial certificate, then the “hand” is the notary’s signature, and the “seal” is the notary’s seal or stamp. But in this case, the original poster is attaching a loose certificate, so it doesn’t matter to the original poster.

I think wherever they sign I would sign date and seal it. But every state is different, all I is if I go out I get paid.

I’m sorry all I’m saying is I’m making money moves
I’m not going out in this pandemic for 35, 40, 60, I don’t go out for know less than 135.00

thank you for replying.

Happy Day! no offense taken - except to say - “you were a newbie at one point in time too”!
be safe out there - have a great day!!!

I must admit in reading this post my thoughts were WOW. Of course all notories are at one point beginners! And I respect that. But the questions that are presented here are very basic!
Very important to receive and participate in some immediate training.!!

In Cynthia defense, this was the first time she’d run into this scenario. She was pretty sure what she needed to do…just needed verification. She knew how SHE wanted to handle it just wanted to be sure she wouldn’t get any flack from hiring g party or title. She just needed to some reassurance.

She was a very intelligent lady and I’m glad I got the chance to speak with her.

Hello Cynthia, I’m really sorry to hear about the confusion your experiencing. But it’s normal for a new notary to not fully understand. Unfortunately you’ve traveled into the world of a Notary Signing Agent, this is not where you should be, you should start as a notary public…build experience. As Previously mentioned by dcaldwell, this job takes training and experience most of us come from either the title business, the mortgage business or even realestate. The damage you can do to others in one thing, but the liability to yourself can get you into serious trouble. The comments you’ve made indicate you don’t know what your doing. Take a step back, don’t just look at the money and go for it. If this is what you want to do, go get some experience and training. Its best for the industry and it’s best for you.

incorrect what and how would u notarized? are u all signing agents or do GNW? Did I just read everywhere there is a signature you notarized?

I missed this…yes this is dead wrong IF that’s what she meant

Cynthia please take this in the way it is meant…great concern for you. Are you a cert signing agent? If so…PLEASE message me as you need mentoring/teaching. It sounds like you have NOT completed any GNW and need a notary class as well. You asked a question and I am happy to help. Will.give u my phone # let’s take an hour or 2 go thru a package and I will walk u thru (I received a 100 percent on my LSS and a 96 on the NNA. I have been doing this 13 months FT and have notarized more than 1000 docs (GNW) and closed 300 plus loans (I work for Amrock, Fidelity, preferred for banc serv (the folks who people say are cheap etc I have a 400 closing with them due to distance…2 hrs).
With that said you know what you don’t know which makes u “safe” (I was an ICU_NICU PICU adult trauma RN who spent 10 years as a house sup and a preceptor i.e teaching and training). YOU Cynthia will do well with proper education and training

For some of the people who answered you. I am VERY concerned. Especially the person who said she would "stamp every sig in the package. with an acknowledgement or a jurat. In all states we as a NP can NOT and MUST not choose which we use. It is considered the practice of law as a NP. PLEASE Cynthia beware who you take advice from. Some of the answers I read from misguided, uneducated untrained folks SCARES me. They don’t know what they don’t know and do not have the sense to ASK, and believe they know what they are doing. And are suggesting folks who want to do a job do it in a manner that can keep them from continuing as a NP. If this sounds harsh NOT my intention. I would love to help you Cynthia because you want to learn the correct way. (I have mentored many new agents because it’s the right thing to do not for personal gain).

The signing agent can be doggie dog so the person pretending to help may be trying to keep their position at the top.

For example, I was at a gas station and overheard a new NP SA saying she had just started and was having a hard time and was worried and scared. I apologized and asked for permission to join conversation. I offered her my card and told her no worries she would have an amazing career as I was in that small time for the 2nd time that week for signings 1.75 hrs OW/3.5 RT and I was receiving 400.00 per closing to travel. Her response was in this area no one would help her cause they said she would take their business. I said there is an entire state and more than enough work for both of us…she is doing well and I haven’t traveled to her area since she and I spoke via phone message and on FB.

If I am unclear my apologies I had major shoulder reconstruction and have been in pain and am medicated.
