HOW TO DETECT EMAIL SCAMS targetting notaries

With many of us out of work / decrease in signing requests, we are desperate and will probably fall for one scam or other. However there are some key things to spot a scam.

Scammers target large volume and hence do not have time to customize the email to each notary’s geographic coverage. In this email , the sender sends a simple email with
No Signature < I abhor this >
Generic statement such as “JOB or SIGNING in YOUR area”.

These are just fishing for your email to be able to scam you further along the road. DO NOT RESPOND and report such email as JUNK/SPAM/PHISHING.

It’s easy to avoid being scammed if you remember a couple of things…

  1. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.
  2. If you don’t recognize the entity (company or individual) making the offer, then just ignore it.
