After I receive a receipt, I go to the shipper’s website (FedEx or UPS) and get tracking updates on the shipment and include the assigning company so they also receive the updates. Once it is delivered, I download a proof of delivery to include with the receipt in my files. Absolutely no doubts, then. I’ve done this since I was an Executive Assistant, going through to Construction Coordinating. It always protects you.

The first thing I do after that receipt touches my hand is a picture is taken of it. No matter what happens to it I’ve got a record.
And I don’t know if this is happening in other areas but UPS in Salem Oregon no longer has next Day Air pick up at The UPS store unless it’s local and I’m not even sure they’re doing that anymore. If you want to drop something on Saturday that will be there for Monday make sure you insist on a FedEx label if you have a FedEx nearby.
