Hi. I received a notification from iNotary Network asking me to do a same-day assignment 11/14/24. The pay for this small assignment (seller signing with scans) was $80. I just got paid on 12/27/24 after multiple attempts to reach them. The emails I sent were totally ignored. I looked up their website, which was no longer in use, then did a search of the FL Division of Corporations and found that one of the principals is an attorney and the other his paralegal, who is listed as President. Additionally, I accepted the last-minute assignment because it was to be done very close to my home. They wanted the signing to be done at 5 pm bu did not provide documents until close to that time, so their agent called and said they wanted to do the signing at their home which added on significant travel time. Not happy with this company and will not work with them again.
@debbie.joudrey Thank you for sharing your direct experience while working/interfacing with this business entity.
Your post will prove beneficial for all Notary Cafe members.
Just curious … Did you try to renegotiate fee when docs were late AND when there was a change in signing location?
Hi Debbie, welcome to Notary Cafe. I am glad you finally did get paid! Thank you very much for sharing your experience. You have a valuable lesson learned.
If my hiring company changed the scope of work on me, I would update my rate accordingly. Unreasonable to just expect the notary to absorb the added cost.
@Carmen_Lane Concur percent. Your business model mirrors mine.
No, I did not try to renegotiate the fee due to the last-minute nature of the assignment I was more focused on accommodating their desired timeframe, but wish I had and I appreciate all the posts encouraging notaries to do so. Payment should have been at least $100.
