Is Top Tech a Scam? Protent they are with Yelp and Google

Has anyone been contacted by people claiming they are from Yelp or Google and want to help you set up your Yelp account to drive more business. They made me all these promises on how they could grow my business. I paid them $199.00 to set up a new website and drive business through Yelp and Google. After I paid them the money I figured out they were not actually with Yelp or Google, they are a compay call Top Tech. It’s been a month and all I have seen is a fake prototype of a website. I have not been able to get Google to verify my business and they can not help me because they are not really Google. Has anyone else been contacted by them?

Call your cc company and get that charge reversed, then have them cancel that cc card and reissue. Sorry this happened to you. Notaries are prime targets for con artists.

Prepare to be bombarded on a weekly even daily basis, especially since you paid that one time. I have never paid and yet I have to block a dozen calls/emails daily from Yelp and Google scammers. They call via VOIP – using their computer to make it look like a local incoming call. Jerks.

@dubois.rita Your instinct is Spot-On - SCAM! Run the other direction.

When I receive those calls, I say:

"Oh! You work at Google/Yelp? That’s great because I have had a question for a while . . ."

Normally, they promptly hang up.

OR, they’ll respond that they work at an “affiliate” organization.

At which point I immediately hang up.

At this juncture, you need to take immediate action to protect yourself financially including:

  • Disputing the charge on your credit card
  • Request that they setup any future charges from that business entity to be disputed as well (if possible)
  • Requesting the bank (for that card) cancel the card & send a new one
  • FREEZE your credit accounts through the 3 Credit Reporting Bureaus:
  • Transunion
  • Equifax
  • Experian
  • Closely review & monitor your credit accounts to ensure that no new accounts have been created. If any new accounts have been without your direct permission, immediately submit a FRAUD CLAIM & request closure & removal of that account.
