Let's Blame the Notary Game

I’m new to the NSA business now for 3 months. I’m now discovering a game called “Let’s Blame The Notary” from some clients that I work with to get assignments.
I was called to do a late signing after 5pm Thursday. I was told that the seller was grumpy with the lender. I was given a card and told " if you have any questions call me". Well as usual I always go over my documents and study them before a signing if applicable. I even stuck post-it arrow stickies indicating where to sign.
When I got to appointment, the sellers were very pleasant, not grumpy at all just very detailed (i am a very personable person ). I started going over the CD and guess what there was a problem. The percentages on the CD was incorrect and the seller called his broker and I had to call the E.O. The E.O. said “we didnt get the CDA(whatever that is) and the broker said " I sent you the CDA”, the E.O. said “we never got it”. Then the broker said, “I will send it to you now”. Once that was done the seller went and retrieved the new CD document to sign. I had gotten incorrect documents from the E.O. with incorrect percentages. Well, if you have 1 incorrect document, all the other numbers are going to be incorrect. Every time I got to a different page, the seller had a problem about a number. I had to call the E.O. several times and I could tell she was getting upset. Also the seller and his broker stated that they did not receive a CD prior to the signing (sounds about right). Well, I finally finished the signing which took about an hour. A sellers package should take me about 30 minutes or less if I get a package that has everything correct from the E.O.
I sent her a text apologizing for the constant calls. Well I had a signing with the E.O. the next morning and she assigned it to another notary because she was upset that I had called her several times and stated “that was too much for a seller package”, I stated back “yes it was, I usually don’t have this much problems with a seller package”. She also apologized. However, she did say she would try me again (smh WOW!).
With all this being said, this is when I learned “Let’s Blame The Notary Game”. Our careers as NSA should not be this hard if we can just only get THE CORRECT DOCUMENTS, and the client has received and reviewed the CD prior to signing. It would make my signings and my life much easier.

Umm…I’m confused…the “Seller”?? Or did you mean “Signer”. I’m not sure why the Seller would care about the percentages on the CD in a sale - that pertains only to the buyers and their loan - unless it related to the commission for the realtor.

As for the “Blame the Notary” game - yep that’s how it is - notary is last man standing, last one at the bottom of the hill when the “stuff” starts rolling. That’s why detailed notes and documenting everything comes in handy.

Sorry you went through this - hope they send you more work and you were fairly compensated for this one.

Hello LindaH,

It was the seller and it was the percentage for the Real Estate Commission. Oh yes, they will pay me. Thank you. God always has a Ram in the bush. When one door is closed, God always has another one open on standby.

How about this one? I scanned back all the docs. They got all the docs in the scan. Got a call like a week later that the “title docs” were missing. Not “the last 10 pages”, or something like that. So they wanted me to see if I still had them somewhere. Really? So, it couldn’t be that all the docs got returned properly, they got divided by title docs and lender docs, then someone over there lost them? No, couldn’t be. Must be the stupid notary that leaves very specific docs behind on her scanner then doesn’t notice them for a week.

****It is so sad. You do your job & you get blamed. I hear about a lot. A good friend of mine in a title company has told me that if the rep spills their coffee or something, the notary will be blamed. If the person would just be honest, we would go out of the way for them, but never like that. **
**Just Remember, this is customer service. We can only do our best. **
**Make sure you document everything. **
