I received text today to sign up with NotarySigningAgentServices. com. I’ve been a notary public/certified signing agent since January 2006 and this is the first time I hear of them. Visit their website and you’ll find the EXHORBITANT fees for any of their packages.
If you do a Google search for a notary, you would typically type in “notary in (zip code, city or county), find a notary near me, etc.” The above agency doesn’t show up. At least not in the first 2 pages of search. So, does it make sense to pay from $350 (for training) up to $995 (for the full treatment of training, background check, directory listing, list of signing services)?
Just an example of what’s out there feeding on our industry.
Pretty soon, there’s gonna be more platforms, SS, lists, ‘educators’ than there are notaries…or any business for notaries. Getting to where the way to make some money in this oversaturated field is to offer some course to the unwary sucker looking for big money.
Yes, Will Rogers did say “A fool & his money are soon parted.”

The phrase “there’s a sucker born every minute” is often associated with P T Barnum; however, even his own biographer was unable to track it down nor verify that P T uttered the phrase.

It’s quite sad, but has proven to be true.
The most difficult component of that situation is that the individuals who are starting up those types of business entities should exhibit scruples, morals, & integrity (because nearly all are notaries public) and yet they’re greedily fleecing their fellow business owners within this business sector.
