I took a long distance signing at 7pm and didn’t get out of there until almost 9 so I got home after 11.
And my scanner was jamming so I made the stack smaller to get it to scan and like a goof had that small piece of the package set aside and didn’t scan it.
And I was wiped out this morning had didn’t get to the shipping center yet which thank goodness because I fixed everything when I got the call that the note was missing from the scan.
I knew when I put the docs in the shipper last night they seemed light. And they were by 39 pages.
Oops. Lesson learned - don’t stay out past your bedtime. First contact over a scan error this year. What a bummer. But I sure am glad I hadn’t shipped that yet without the note and the deed. And the Patriot Act. And the signature affidavit.
I hate that my scorecard at MC is going to go down. But geez I was just exhausted.
Not doing past 6pm anymore. On the bright side I didn’t have to drive anywhere to fix it.

Back when I was still taking Loan Signings, I stopped taking after dark engagements. My territory covered over 2000 square miles (3 counties in Texas). The deciding factor was wildlife and loose livestock on the highways. One of my fellow Notaries plowed into a sounder of feral hogs. The collision destroyed his car and left him disabled.
It’s not uncommon for these feral creatures to weight in excess of 300 lbs. Their low stance puts them inline with a car’s front bumper, rolling the carcass over the hood and crashing through the windshield. Which is what happened to my colleague. If they’re struck by a pickup truck, they can end up in the under-carrage, lifting the truck’s front end causing the truck to flip.

Been there and done it before Assignments after 6pm will only be RON. I paid my dues and then some, back in my early stage of being a loan signing agent. It’s no longer an adventure to me…

Since I opened my business 2015 never take after dark assignments (includes time to complete signing). Hours have always been dawn to dusk and even that isn’t always safe. 2019 in head-on collision (not my fault DUI old lady hit me) and time was 5pm returning from signing. I usually don’t drive after dark not concern for my driving but concern from others driving after happy hour.

That’s scary to hear, I hope you are okay.
Thank you. Above ground with a few long term damages that I just have to deal with. DUI driver no insurance which is very frustrating. Be safe out there.
