So, now that the fees have been raised to $15.00 a signature in California, do you think we will get paid more for signings? And how much do you charge for a typical package with no fax backs? Do you charge extra for evenings and weekends?
Some signing companies are making it clear that they will not be raising their rates to accommodate the increase in fees. Also the title companies will not be increasing their fee for the borrowers. The only way we can really work with this fee is to increase our fees for private notary work. In this day and economy, fee raising may not be the best thing to do.
I have found that raising fees for evenings and weekends generally will not be in your best interest as there are many signing agents that will do closings throughout the whole day. The only exception may be for Sundays (if you work that day)!
