Her post (as noted above) mirrors my experience & analysis of about a decade & a half ago . . .
In addition, I diligently endeavored to coordinate with several directory/business entities requesting that they IDENTIFY those defunct business with a leading code of “Out-of-Business” [OOB] so that we would know that information about that business entity for our analysis. At that point in time there were about 50% of the business entities listed that were ‘dead in the water.’
I even went so far as expending time, energy, & effort to VALIDATE that each of those business entities were TRULY OOB.
Unfortunately, at that point in time each of the directory owners had ABSOLUTELY no interest in cleaning up the mess of a database they were marketing to notaries/professional signing agents [PSAs].
Fast-forward a few years then ALL OF THE SUDDEN, the research & analysis work that I had diligently performed was BIG SURPRISE implemented at one of the directories.
Hmmmm . . . guess the number of complaints about the quantity of OOB listings gave them cause for pause & they finally decided to take action.

Regardless, it has helped to have the OOB coding next to the business entity name listing.

Regarding FindANotary website for GNW . . . As I’ve stated previously, this would be a HARD PASS for me.
