I recently was assigned an out of state property loan package with the notarial certificate that is attached as part of the document DOT (as usual) The certificate wording already placed the state in the Venue location which I know I can cross out and write in the State or County we are actually signing in. But it also had the out of state name on the notary signing space. Where it says “Notary Public residing in …….” It said the other state where the property was located and the signing was not done in. Can notaries cross that out as well and put the correct state or do we HAVE to attach another certificate and write on the DOT See attached Certificate? I get worried with the Deed because its, well the Deed.
I’ve corrected statements near my signature that said I was a notary in some other state, or resided in some other state. I can’t recall if I’ve seen any of those statements on a deed.

You have no choice - you either have to correct it (and initial) or attach a state-compliant separate cert - which keep in mind will not make title happy as it increases recording costs. But you have to do what you have to do - I would cross out and initial in both places.
