Hi all - General question. One of the signing companies is requesting an actual certificate with my state seal on it to verify my commission. I reached out to the state but haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet. NNA says Florida no longer gives the certificates anymore (not even PDF) with the seal on it. Any suggestions on what I can use to submit to the signing company (The Closing Exchange)? Thanks!
@notary3 Within most States in the US, the entity issuing the Notarial Commission has an online “Lookup feature” for the Notary Commissions issued; i.e., Secretary of State, etc.
It could be that they haven’t recently updated their “Onboarding” documentation.
You may want to present them with the electronic verification process for your State.
That is how most business entities verify the Notarial Commissions.
OR
They can perform the Lookup/Verification at the NNA website SigningAgent .com . . .
Last time I renewed my commission in 2022, I received a certificate from the state - I think the NNA is wrong (no surprise there) because every time you renew you’re given a new commission number, hence issuing a new cert. And has been stated, they can look you up on the state’s website here
No certificate? So what do you put on the wall above your desk? Out here on the left coast, when you renew your commission every four years, you have to start over.
In Vermont, I get a PDF that I can download if I want to.
