Notary Presentment Services

Has anyone ever heard of or completed Notary Presentment Srvs? This is the second time a guy called asking do I provide this type of service. I’ll explain it best I can: I was told that he had some legal docs that needed to be certified-copied by a Notary and then mailed to a company on his behalf. Then I have to wait for them to send them back to me and then update them and send them back (something of that sort can’t remember). However, it sounded like I would have been involved with an ongoing process and it would have been my duty to continuously execute the docs on my part. I know this sounds confusing but he had me confused. The last time I got a call for this request, I declined bc it seemed as if it was just too much to be involved in! I figured since I declined last time, I would again due to a lack of knowledge! Moreover, I wanted a Notary to explain to me what this entails and their experience in a very transparent way.

Have never done one. You’re correct - ongoing process.

I believe it’s also called a Protest. Is this something that your state allows?

What Would You Do Answer: The case of the bizarre financial demand | NNA

Hi Yolicue! I’m not sure, but I noticed the guy didn’t call me back after he figured he couldn’t lowball me! I told him I’ve been in the business for 5 years. I knew that since it was an ongoing process, the fee was going to be higher than normal!

That’s a protest. Run away.!

Colorado refers to this as Notices of Dishonor/Protests of Negotiable Instruments. Colorado states its only for a notary who is employed by a financial institution, and who is acting in the course and scope of that employment.
Some people try to use this to get out of a large debt. It was popular among certain political groups years ago. As Joe said, “Run away.!” - as fast as you can.

When I first started here in FL, I got a call from a gentleman asking me to do this - he didn’t call it that, but he did say I would have to mail letter notices to individuals, receive their response back and deliver it to him. I was not comfortable being put in the middle like that - so I declined, and am thankful I did. He tried to push me, said “there are a lot of notaries that do these” - I told him to call one of them.

@metzger_nsa – Protest – Not to be confused with Medallion Signature Guarantee which can only be performed by certain financial institutions.
