Payment for print and travel

I drove to a signing and the borrower decided not to sign. I called the Lender and they said I would be paid $75. I was then told by the Closing Biz that it was incorrect. I would only be paid $40. What is this do they get to keep the difference as if they drove and printed?

Bingo! Therein lies the difference between working directly or working with a middleperson (i.e. signing service). If you work directly, you can expect to keep the whole pie. Working with a signing service, they get a portion of that pie – usually a large portion.

How to avoid this: Market direct.

I always charge 50% of the original fee. I don’t let them tell me, I send the invoice.

Full fee for no-signs at the table. No-shows must cover my actual expense + time spent. Only cancellations after printing are half fee.

Agree I thought the question was about canceled after arriving.
