Portable table?

I’ve had several closings just in the last couple of weeks where there is no table readily available (i.e. no kitchen table or extremely cluttered table). I am thinking I might get some sort of portable table to carry in my car. Do any of you use some sort of a portable table at times?

During my confirmation phone call, I always confirm that the signings have a table available for the signing process. If not, I will recommend meeting at a nearby place of business/library. But it you wish to carry a table with you, go for it.

@kromedome42303 It’s an option, but . . .

I confirm with the signers (during my confirmation call with them - mirrors cfletcher’s procedure) that they have a large table AND chairs available for our appointment.

If the signers hesitate, I suggest we meet at a nearby business location that can accommodate our appointment.

There have been a few times that a portable table was needed (signer not mobile), which I knew about ahead of time. During those instances, I bring a very stable, portable black folding table (72" L X 30" D X 29" H) that handily serves the purpose. :white_check_mark: It’s only $70 at Sam’s Club.

Buy legal size clip boards. Those work pretty well. Don’t move a signing location without permission from whoever hired you.

If I carried anything it would be a TV tray. And signers who don’t use their kitchen tables sometimes have those.

I keep clipboards in my car. Be sure to find a stable surface when you stamp.

@kromedome42303 FYI: Specifications for the table I referenced above

  • Steel frame construction
  • Weight capacity of 2000 lbs (distribute weight evenly)
  • Table weighs 31#

Not every home is going to have space available for you to set up a table, unless you are willing to do so in a garage or on a parking strip. And, personally as a signer, I would consider it intrusive and presumptive of you to think you could make over my space for your convenience. The thing about this job is that you quickly learn to adapt. A clipboard is all you really need to make a signing work when a table is not available.

I ve purchased a few laptop desks. Clipboards are great but at least youll have room to write with a laptop desk.

I like that idea, too. The mentor I worked with carried a card table during COVID. She still has it her car. It’s not gigantic and she has some rocks for when she signed outside with people. Which during COVID was a thing in these parts.

I might get TV trays. They are easy to carry if you have to carry one and not very big.
