Hi . I’m a new loan signing agent . I’m searching for advice on how to land jobs with signing services . I’ve signed up with at least 7 signing services thus far and my profile is fully filled out yet I’ve only landed one job and it was to perform real estate photography services, but not loan signings .What’s the best way to obtain more business as a loan signing agent ?
Patience is the best advice I can give you at the moment. This has been a slow time in the industry at least in Tennessee. I have seen others say the same about their areas. A drop in interest rates should give an increase in people refinancing their homes and maybe those that are on the edge about buying or selling.
This is the kind of research that must be done PRIOR to embarking on ANY new venture. How to land assignments and how to make it profitable. The answer in one word: market, Market, MARKET then MARKET some more.
Now, my questions to OP: Why did you enter this biz? Did you take any of those touted (paid) signing agent courses?* If you did, did they give you any instructions on generating business? If you did pay for any of those courses, what’s their refund policy?
*As a point of information, I do not endorse ANY of those courses – especially the 6-figures guy.
Do what most of the agents reading this did when they started, lie about your experience to get work.
Thanks so much on the advice . Yes , things seem to be very slow at the moment . But I’ll continue to market myself and wait it out ! I’m sure everything will improve with time .. Thanks again for the advice
That’s not even right, maybe true, but still not right.
Thanks Yolanda . Research was done prior to embarking on this new journey . I’ve been a notary public and loan signing agent for almost 4 years, but I’m just now taking on notary “loan signing” full time , and this forum of agents at Notary Cafe who are willing to support us new signing agents taking on this journey full time is how I’m seeking the extra needed advice and support I need to market my business better .. getting advice from the experts is exactly what I’m seeking . I’m NNA certified, my courses were taken from NNA, I have $2 million in errors and omissions insurance , my back ground is screened , I’m bonded, and I’m a Georgia realtor who is familiar with loan documents .
My question was concerning how to gain more business and/or market my business better to attract more contracts because things seem very slow at the moment
because I’m just now taking on loan signing full time , my profile doesn’t reflect a bunch of experience , so I was asking what were the best ways to gain more business with signing agencies be it that my experience doesn’t compare to those who have been loan signing for years .
Terrible advice, sometimes services call and quiz you. It gets obvious if a notary has lied about experience. I never lied about my experience. Instead I took about 15 orders from Prestige Notaries and called Jennifer about 20 times and gained experience and started getting jobs with other companies.
And while Prestige Notaries ;pays slow they offer excellent support for new notaries and are available for questions no matter when your appointment is.
So my advice is sign up at notarydash.com and the first time you accept a Prestige Notaries offer they’ll call and quiz you and the best thing to do is admit you’re new and need experience. And submit invoices and wait 37 BUSINESS days to get paid which can sometimes go to about 60 days or more. Don’t freak out. They pay slow but always pay. And Jennifer answers her phone and answers questions.
And that’s how I started and I still have a great relationship with Prestige and still take orders at notarydash.com. Not a lot but I don’t listen to naysayers on the forum.
Just my opinion. Everyone starts somewhere.
And also sign up with Coast To Coast. They don’t pay a lot but they provide great support and free training videos and that’s how you’ll learn. Be attention driven.
lol … you’re funny … I’m not going to do that but your comment definitely made me laugh this morning ! Thanks
Thank you so much ..im not taking his advice .. I think he was joking , well , I hope he was joking lol…
I actually did sign up with Prestige a weeks ago and received an assignment from them but it was only for real estate photography, but I did land the job .
Prestige and Notary Resume are the only two companies who have been sending me assignments ,but I’m sure they are giving those jobs to loan signing agents with more experience because after I accept , I never hear anything back ..
So, I’m going to do exactly what you said , as soon as I get another offer, I’m going to call Jennifer and let her know I am new but I can get the job done accurately , timely , and efficiently. I will continue to build my experience that way ! Thank you so much for the advice
Will do ! I will sign up for Coast to Coast as well ! At this point , it’s not about the pay it’s about building my resume with experience so your expert advice is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you so much again
His comment made me laugh though ..it was a great way to start my day
That’s the same as in most businesses. How do you get experience if no one is willing to give it to you? You shade the truth a bit. Just make sure that you can back up whatever you presented.
Prestige will hire anyone who has not yet caught on that they don’t pay (at least not until after 60 days and you have written them at least 3 emails about it).
Just my luck, I would be the one it’ll bite in the for stretching the truth
..
however, I know I’d do an excellent job with absolutely no errors , but I’d probably get caught telling the lie before I even got started ..
So, I’ll just stick to the truth, and prayerfully they’ll start assigning me to these jobs …
Yes , I heard people have an extremely hard time getting their money fast at Prestige .. they say 37 days but most notaries have stated it takes them 60 days or more to get paid ..
I just need the experience under my belt , for at least my first 10 signings, so I’m not concerned about the fast pay just yet, but I do need the experience to start building, so I may just have to deal with that until I get my weight up
I have to admit that I have never been “not” paid by Prestige. However, it has almost always been a struggle, and I can’t remember a time when it was as little as 37 days. I don’t need the stress of dealing with that, in addition to everything else. Therefore, I just don’t reply to any of their offers anymore. The fact that the pay rate is garbage anyway doesn’t help their case. I’m not about to take a lowball fee and then wait over 60 days to be paid.

That makes perfect sense .. low pay and having to wait 60 days for that low pay is bananas I must agree
