About one out of 20 packages I’ll have a borrower who does not sign the taxpayers consent form because they don’t want the info shared and they don’t want more junk mail.
I don’t ever argue. But today I have to go back and get that form signed by a lender who says it’s a condition of funding.
I was really surprised by that. At the signing the borrower said, “I don’t want to give them that consent” and I just returned it declined to sign.
Now I guess the answer needs to be please call your lender to determine if that form is required by them.
I never tell anyone what to do or not do, but I have had many borrowers who are adamant about not granting permission to share tax info. Maybe a taxpayer consent form is completely different from permission to share tax return info.
Glad it’s not 2 hours away.

It is surprising when signers get persnickety about what documents they will/won’t sign, even when they are specifically cautioned by lender that IT IS A CONDITION OF FUNDING! But I am with you – I am neutral to the transaction. If they sign, OK. If they refuse to sign, OK.
All I can do is call my hiring company and explain the situation and let the hiring company or loan officer to do the explaining to the signer. If they still won’t sign, then I guess they don’t really want the loan and my traveling to their home with loan paperwork to sign was just a futile exercise. Which is crazy. But so be it. I still expect to be paid in full.

That is a form that people have declined to sign before. I’ll just tell them to call their loan officer and speak to them before declining to sign something.
Oh well you live and learn I guess.
