Do they only do business in Texas?

I’m not certain I understand your question. The fee increase only applies to Texas Notaries.

I guess Michigan is behind. Come on Michigan

Wouldn’t that be nice? WA hasn’t increased notary fees in 15 years.

OMG. A Pennsylvania girl could only dream…

Congratulations!!!

$10 per notarization has been the law in Florida for at least 8 years. That’s how long I was there. I moved back to Arkansas recently and am happy not to be told what I can charge. Yea! Arkansas statute reads:

Section 21-6-309 - Notaries public

(a) A notary public authorized to perform notarial acts in this state may charge and collect a fee for a notarial act if the fee:

(1) Is a reasonable amount as determined by the notary public; and

(2) The fee is disclosed to and agreed upon by the client or principal before executing the notarial act.

If my memory can recall, Tennessee has something similar. The fee cap and over saturation of Notaries in Texas, makes things difficult to turn a profit.
