In an effort to not miss an opportunity and more importantly to avoid scammers. What should I look for when I get a text regarding a possible signing? Will the text include the company or person’s name, a phone number, any way to contact them to confirm it’s legit?
I ask the question because I received a text at 10:00 pm and again at 10:20 pm saying, "Signing available 08/08 at 2:00 pm in Carrollton, and a link. I was suspicious because it was after normal business hours and there was no information identifying who sent it the text. Thank you.
I have received notifications for signing orders at various times, for instance 12am, 2am, even at 5am. With RON, it’s even more unpredictable. Usually these notifications come with the company’s name.
Some companies forget time points in other areas, I’ve received requests in the middle of the night as in 1-2 am, they are rare but they do happen. If you don’t want to receive messages after a certain time, mute your phone is my best suggestion, you can see the messages the next day and decide, if it is still available, great, if not, that’s the breaks. I’ve never been given any of the information you mentioned. It only pertains to the signing itself and usually a link. Best practice is to start saving numbers as you start signing up with companies or platforms. Usually the bulletins will keep coming from the same numbers on a regular basis. I’ve never clicked on a fraudulent link before on offer texts. Has anyone?
When you’re a new Notary it’s hard to know when an available signing via text is legit or not. Turns out the company was one that doesn’t pay. So, I didn’t miss out on a legit signing😆!
