Sad enough is some new notaries are taking this and even the ones I see where $40 is offered. They will get what they pay for in the long run.
So, just to be clear, you print 260 pages. You drive over 1 hr one way. The fee is ONLY $ 65. 00. The insult! What we do is worth more than this.
So you would drive 60 miles each way .and spend 45-75 minutes signing for$110.
Not figuring paper .print… prep …gas… insurance …
?? What is your profit margin ?
Its easily 3.5 hours of work or more.
…Macdonald pays better
This is very good to know. I’m really enjoying these tips.
Why does anyone else care? Why is it anyone else’s business. It was 90 minutes because I did 2 other appointments that day. People don’t need to worry about what other people are doing.
Anyone work with The Notary Ink?
Notary Ink out of McKinney - yes I have. They pay very fast.
That what I have been saying for a while.
$150 minimum. And the milage is usually zip code to zip code
Not driveway to driveway.
Wonder what zipcode they use as point of origin. ?
I do those at minimum $75. Each and usually within a small circle of my home c2c gets them from first American and keeps alot back for themselves
I do direct work and make a decent fee.
I’ve been on board with MC since 2014 and they have always served me well. These past few years I’ve not accepted any of their insulting offers and they’ve never accepted my counteroffers which speaks to the point that most are accepting these low ball offers willingly. Is there anyone who is actually receiving $125+ from MC? I’m 23 years in and I’m not selling out cheap for any company.
Exactly my minimum fees pre-covid with MC were $150 and $175 for private reserve accounts. Ugh
I’ve noticed both MConn and T-gate have been doing this in 2024. I counter the $$ & get it <50% of the time. Overall it’s worth the counter bc they act blind to the extra print costs, extra time to complete it & scans. I’m still perplexed at the 15+ pg privacy statement & 15+ pgs of title instruction docs! They’re the new Lowballers!!
I agree with all that if it isn’t profitable , don’t take it
Paper has doubled in price
Gas
Ink
Your time
And taxes
But the signing companies get more than 1/2 of notary fees on settlement statement for just assigning it and uploading the documents
But notaries don’t stick together and everyone says No!
Fletcher,
My fee ranged from 150-175. You are looking at 260 pages and driving at least 2 hours. Include one prep time and a half hour to mail the document, and we are looking at 3.5 hours total. That does not factor in any mistakes that a return trip would have to be made; if that happens, you are doing the signing for free.
Jarus, you gave confirmation as to why I turn down the assignment!
But prep time and shipping is part of an order. I think some people forget we provide a service and some aspects of that service are a given when we accept an assignment.
Preparation and travel time is often two elements that many NSAs, especially the newbies, often over look. It’s often too late before they realize how much they’re loosing on each assignment.
@johnsonps306 Absolutely! Concur percent!
Many also neglect to include multiple items that are part & parcel of every Signing Order [SO] as delineated within the Guideline to Create a Schedule of Fees (a very thorough, although not an exhaustive listing):
