Title Company require ID to be returned with a QR code

I have not heard of this. It appeared on 1 of my closings, The title company sent a separate sheet of paper stating they will send a QR code for the ID to be uploaded to. Has anyone else heard of this? I think it is silly that a QR code has to be used and a copy of the DL’s be returned with signed docs. I feel that if title wants the borrower/seller to upload their DL’s through a QR code they should reach directly to the person. Title Company stated this is a new trend.

@mobilenotaryinohio :tada: Thank You :tada: for sharing your direct experience.

My direct experience mirrors yours => never previously heard of/nor been asked to perform the DL upload via QR code with the signers ID.

I understand times are changing, but Title keeps putting more on the notaries to do Titles job. This one really threw me for a loop. Thank you for responding

@mobilenotaryinohio I concur :100: percent with the excerpt noted above.

Across nearly all of my Signing Orders [SOs], the Title/Escrow Company [T/EC] has already requested & received the copy(ies) of the current government-issued [CGI] photo identification(s).

If not, the signer(s) will email the scanned image(s) or send via screenshot through their cell phone.
