To be honest or not?

I have been a notary for a very long time but I am newer (ish) to being a signing agent.
I have been in the mortgage industry for over 20 years now, I’ve processed, closed, funded… I’ve been the lender the title companies are waiting for approval from on refinances, purchases, heloc etcs… I know what I’m doing. Yes, I’ve reached out to all of those title companies, most of which are in the county I used to live it… I’ve since moved and their business is not as heavy here.

Yet, I understand these signing services want to be sure I’m experienced enough so they ask “how many signings have you done?”…

I am an honest person, I don’t like to lie… at all. But it feels mandatory to get somewhere with this.

What are your thoughts and how did you handle that when you were first starting out?

When I started out, I just told the truth and would add, but I’m a triple checker. When I print, as they sign at the end of the appointment. I remain a triple checker. At the end of the day they want error free. So put that in an answer, “I do everything I can to be error free”.

Thank you.
Yes that is basically what I told them. Then they said another team member was working on it and booked it with someone else… it felt more like a no thanks. It is very discouraging but it is their loss.
